History of Chapparapadavu Grama Panchayat
Located in the hilly region of Kannur district, Chapparapadavu is a historic village renowned for its rich agricultural heritage, cultural harmony, and resilience. The name is believed to originate either from Chapparam (large rafts used to cross the local river) or from the lush, foliage-filled slopes (chappu and padavu) of the region. Once under the reign of the Kolathunadu kingdom and inhabited by indigenous communities, the area underwent a massive transformation during the Malabar Migration of the 1940s and 50s.
