Panthrandam Chal Bird Sanctuary
Panthrandam Chaal and the Thadikkadavu Bird Sanctuary are among the places that add exceptional natural beauty to the Thadikkadavu area of Chapparappadavu.
During the period 1995–2000, the Chapparappadavu Grama Panchayat in Kannur prepared a list of trees along the riverbank at Panthrandam Chaal. Following this initiative, an entrance gateway identifying the area as a Bird Sanctuary was also established.
The months of November and December, when the region experiences a misty and pleasant climate, attract the largest number of visitors to Thadikkadavu and the Bird Sanctuary.
As part of the tourism development initiatives undertaken by the State Government, the Panchayat had proposed Panthrandam Chaal as a potential tourism destination. The Panchayat authorities are continuing their efforts to bring the tourism potential of Thadikkadavu to the attention of the State Government and to promote the area as an attractive nature-tourism destination.
